About the Institute
Holland Institute for Substance Use and Behavioral Health Studies provides specialized education and workforce development for individuals entering or advancing within the substance use disorder and behavioral health professions.
Our mission is to educate, equip, and empower professionals with the academic knowledge, ethical foundation, clinical competencies, and practical skills necessary to provide effective, compassionate, culturally responsive, and evidence-informed services.

CADC Education Track
Designed for individuals pursuing education applicable to the Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) pathway. Students develop foundational and applied competencies in substance use disorders, counseling, screening, assessment, treatment planning, case management, documentation, ethics, recovery, and professional practice.
LCAS Education Track
Advanced addiction-specific education designed for individuals pursuing the Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) pathway. Coursework emphasizes clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment, co-occurring disorders, advanced counseling approaches, ethical decision-making, case conceptualization, treatment planning, and clinical application.
Continuing Education
Focused educational opportunities for professionals seeking to remain current in substance use and behavioral health practice while completing applicable continuing education requirements.
Professional Development

Clinical Skills Training

Depending on the selected educational pathway, programming may encompass up to 280–300 instructional hours of structured education and training.
